Doctor:

Adrian Lewis, MD
Medical Director

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and graduated with a medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 1977. After an additional two years of internships, I immigrated to the United States and attended the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Florida from 1980-1983. I then became board certified in family medicine, and in 1984 opened a solo-family practice in Gainesville specializing in preventative care and the management of accidents and injuries. Approximately 13 years ago, I was involved in a serious automobile accident. During this experience I became very aware of how the injuries, inability to work and transportation challenges can play havoc with one’s life. This led to the opening of Lewis Auto Injury Care in 2003, a practice limited to the evaluation and management of patients with vehicle injuries. Last year I evaluated and supervised the management of 512 new patients.

I am driven by a desire to fulfill God’s purpose in my life, and Auto Injury Care is a great platform to serve others. I am also active in church including serving the homeless at St. Francis House and on medical mission trips to China. I am honored that Sue, my wife of almost 30 years, shares this vision and is the Rehabilitation Director at Lewis Auto Injury Care. I am further blessed that our son Andrew voluntarily requested to serve along with his mom and dad. Recreational activities include running, traveling (especially hiking and going to the beach), and attending sporting events (especially Gator football and basketball).

Physical Therapists:

Sue Lewis, RPT
Rehabilitation Director

Sue was born and grew up in the province of Natal in South Africa. She attended the University of Cape Town and completed her physical therapy degree in 1975. She met Dr. Lewis during their mutual training and they married in February of 1979. She immigrated to the United States and started a physical therapy private practice in Gainesville while Dr. Lewis attended his residency program here. Sue has thus been practicing manual therapy/sports medicine in Gainesville for almost 30 years. She has developed expertise in managing all injuries of the spine, jaw, shoulders, headaches and associated soft tissues. This has included attended over 150 continuing medical educational courses related to these areas.

Sue was involved in the same serious automobile accident as Dr. Lewis. During this experience she also became very aware of how the injuries, inability to work and transportation challenges can play havoc with one’s life. In 2003, she was the first physical therapist working at Lewis Auto Injury Care and since then has assisted in the recruitment and training of all the physical and massage therapists. Sue continues to carry a full patient load in addition to her other responsibilities. Recreational activities include traveling (hiking in the mountains and the beach), working for hours at a time in her yard, playing with her two dogs, and spending time with her husband of almost 30 years. Sue remains passionate about showing God’s love in a practical way by serving injured patients and helping them on their road to recovery.

Massage Therapists:

Tally West LMT

I was raised in Venice, FL and graduated with a BS in Health and Recreation from UF in 1976. I attended the School of Healing Arts in Sarasota, FL and have been a licensed massage therapist since 1982.

Over the past twenty-seven years, I have owned and operated two successful therapeutic/sports massage centers in South Florida as well as in the Atlanta area. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the sports massage team for the 1996 Olympic Games.

During this time I have had extensive experience working with MD’s and Physical Therapists managing injured patients.

I enjoy boating, fishing, camping, riding my horses, reading, movies and the theater. My passion is my work. I am able to achieve a great deal of satisfaction just knowing that I am able to make a difference in peoples lives.

Vanessa Hunter LMT

I moved to Ocala in 1974 for the horses and never left. In 1992, I graduated from the Florida School of Massage. Over the years, I have received advanced training in many fields, including Kinesio Taping. When I am not studying computer technology, gardening is my favorite past-time.

Exercise Therapists:

Melissa Sylvia, CPT

I was born in Massachusetts but have lived in Gainesville since I was 6.  Growing up I loved exercise and physical fitness and have always felt drawn to this field.  I attended the University of Florida and graduated in 1999 with a degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences.  I aslo became certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

I have been with Lewis Auto Injury Care since its beginning over 5 years ago and was able to help design and setup our current rehab gym.  I have personally treated 1500 patients at the clinic and have had the joy of being able to meet so many great people from our community and strengthen them back to health.  I am proud to be working also as head trainer, designing training programs for future exercise therapists as we expand into other locations.

In my free time, I love to train and compete in triathlons (swimming, biking and running) all over the state of Florida.

Medical Assistant:

Tammie Escobio, MA

I'm a Texas girl who finally made it to Florida!  I have lived in Ocala for the last 7 years.  I have been richly blessed with two loving and active boys.  Our two crazy Labrador puppies and a spoiled cat round out our family nicely.

I graduated with my AS degree in Medical Assisting in August 2004.  I have always been intrigued by sports medicine.  After graduation, I practiced with  a local orthopedic group.  In February 2009, I joined the team here at Lewis Auto Injury Care.  I love being part of this compassionate and caring team.  Being a part of a patient's recovery is both encouraging and rewarding.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, the beach, camping, spending time with my boys and playing with our dogs.

Front Office Manager

I have lived in Ocala for nearly 5 years and have found it to be a warm and welcoming community. My husband, son and I truly love living here.

After serving eight years in the military and completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management I held a few management positions and ultimately worked with a consulting group specializing in physicians practice start-up throughout the southeast. In search of an opportunity to serve the people in my local community I met the caring staff of Lewis Auto Injury Care. I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of this team of compassionate people with hearts to serve.  I am proud to have joined the Auto Injury Care family in January 2009 during the launch of the Ocala location.
